December 05, 1960 - March 24, 2021

Funeral service for Henry "Dee" McLaughlin, Jr., age 60, of Tipton, Oklahoma will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 27, 2021, at the First Baptist Church in Tipton with Rev. Harold Gaches and Rev. Les Banks officiating. Burial will follow in the Tipton Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick. Mr. McLaughlin passed away on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at the Wilbarger General Hospital in Vernon, Texas.

Henry "Dee" McLaughlin, Jr. was born on December 5, 1960, in Houston, Texas to Henry Dee and Bettye Lynn (Baker) McLaughlin. He attended Abilene Public Schools where he lettered in football, playing fullback. Dee graduated from Abilene High School in 1979, and later attended Texas A & M at College Station where he received a Bachelor Degree in Ag Economics. He was employed by Gooch Packing Company in Abilene, Texas, Alta Verde Beef Pack in Eagle Pass, Texas, and Highland Food in Austin, Texas. In 1995, he moved to Vernon, Texas, where he was over national sales for Wright Brand Foods. Dee later was employed by B3R Country Meats in Childress, Texas. In 2008, he founded and served as CEO of American Homestead Natural Pork. In pursuance of his passion for producing the highest quality naturally raised pork anywhere, the company was established to: “Preserve and develop the finest heritage Hampshire breeding stock.” On January 2, 2014, he and Vikki Lynn (Potts) David were united in marriage in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mr. McLaughlin retired in 2020.

Dee’s love for family and friends were enormous; his wife, sons, and grandchildren were his pride and joy. He loved cooking for all of his family and friends and was a die-hard Texas A & M Aggie Fan. He enjoyed spending time with his dogs, working in his garden, farming, and messing with his cattle. Dee had a passion for raising pigs and helping kids with their show animals every year. He was a member of the Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Vikki McLaughlin of the home; four sons, Tommy McLaughlin and his wife Whitney of Prosper, Texas, Cody McLaughlin '07 of Houston, Texas, Justin David of Tipton, Oklahoma, and Jarrod David and his wife Lindsey of Vernon, Texas; one brother, Jay McLaughlin of Spurger, Texas; one sister, Lori Rastelli of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren, Briggs McLaughlin, Crew McLaughlin, Brylee David, Whitlee David, and Charlee David; his in-laws, Tommy and Frances Potts of Tipton, Oklahoma; his brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Brian and Kenda Potts and Tammy Knight all of Tipton, Oklahoma; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wilbarger County Livestock Show in Vernon or the Tipton F.F.A. in memory of Henry Dee McLaughlin, Jr.
