Michael "Mike" Rendon '06 March 22, 2021 11:52 AM updated: March 22, 2021 12:13 PM

Michael Lee Rendon
October 24, 1984 - July 01, 2020

On Wednesday, July 1, a precious light was extinguished in the Emilio and Annie Rendo?n family, with the tragic death of their beloved son Michael. Too, his beloved sister Dr. Rebecca Lange Rendo?n-Lott and his brother Joseph Enri?que Rendo?n and wife Gabby were also left with the burden of losing their brother "Mikey". On that day, July 1, 2020, their world was greatly injured and Michael's 3 nephews- Lucas Rendo?n, Mason and Bryson Lott and 1 niece- Natasha Rendo?n-were also left to grieve this loss. His "brother" Renato Santos Ph.D. thought Michael walked on water. Until Renato met Michael, he said he didn't know what it was like to be family, Mike's "cousin" Billie Jo Whitehurst, was Michael's friend and confident. The Detectives words "Michael is dead" are burned into his parents' souls.

In his own quiet way, Michael earned his Eagle Scout badge while in Pack 445 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, San Antonio. He was also Eucharistic Minister at Blessed Sacrament for a short time before he left for college.

Michael was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, San Antonio and Texas A&M University, College Station. Michael was a valued full knight of the Knights of Columbus, Council 3205, College Station. His leader, Ray Thomas, spoke highly of Mike, stating that often he was the first to arrive and the last to leave the activities. Mike had a gentle soul and a caring spirit-demonstrated by having cooked, this past Thanksgiving, a whole Thanksgiving dinner for a lady and her 7 children and delivering it. They invited him to break bread with them, which he gladly did and all enjoyed that evening.

Michael is survived by 2 close aunts, Beatrice Gamble and Carmen Gomez, both from San Antonio. His uncles are William and Godmother Judy Lange (Harper), Jerome and Maxine Lange (Keller), Felix Lange (San Antonio), Godfather Alvin Lange and wife Marilyn (Harper), Felix Rendo?n and Alma (La Port) and too many cousins to list. All grieve at the sudden and violent death of Mike. Three other uncles, Roger Rendon, Louis Gomez, Joe Gamble, proceeded Mike on this final journey. He is home now.

The following quotes are offered in Mike's memory:

"A faithful Christian life in this world is the best preparation for the next". (Tryon Edwards)

"Leaves have their time to fall, and flowers to wither . . .". (Felicia Dorothea Browne Hemans)

"Death and love are the 2 wings that bear the good [person] to heaven". (Nucgekabgeki (BuonarroTi)

Mike's grief stricken father simply said: It was a privilege being his dad".

Thank you so much for all your thoughts and prayers. Hug your children.
