SEPTEMBER 20, 1935 – AUGUST 7, 2020


Funeral Services or Jack Carlton Sawyer will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at Metcalf Funeral Home in Conroe, Texas at 10:00 am with Reverend Janet Stilwell presiding. Internment will follow at the Zion Memorial Cemetery in Iola, TX at 1:00 pm.

Mr. Sawyer was born on September 20, 1935 in Hahira, Georgia and passed away on August 7, 2020 in Conroe, TX. He was a faithful member of the First Methodist Church in Conroe where he was a member of the Beacon Sunday School class. He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Jean Allen Sawyer, father and mother, Carlton and Jeanette and brother, Robert Sawyer. He is survived by 3 children; Karen Carothers '79, Kim Kleimann and Jack C. Sawyer, Jr., 3 grandchildren; 3 great- grandchildren and one brother as well as numerous nieces, nephew, and other relatives. His special friend and companion, Judy Robert, also survives.

His family moved to Houston from Georgia when he was 3 years old. He was educated there until attending Texas A & M University where he received a B.S. Degree in Geology in 1958. Through part-time attendance and correspondence courses, he later earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree in Law from LaSalle University. He was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel - Kentucky’s Highest Honor. Pall Bearers will be David Kleimann, Steve Carothers, Cody Warrick and Daniel Gazda.

In lieu of flowers, if desired, memorials should be sent to First Methodist Church, 4308 West Davis, Conroe, TX 77304.
