John Walter McMillan, III
July 22, 1942 - March 1, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Walter McMillan, III. He passed away peacefully at his home in Houston, Texas on March 1, 2021 at the age of 78. John was born on July 22, 1942 in Midland, Texas to the late John Walter McMillan, II and Catherine Newnham McMillan. He graduated from Lamar High School (1960). Upon graduation, he attended New Mexico Military Institute. He attended Texas A&M University (1964) where he received a degree in Marketing. Upon graduating, he joined the U.S. Coast Guard, serving as a medic. He always referred to the Coast Guard as “the world's most fierce, fighting force.”

He is survived by his wife Marsha McMillan; son John Troy McMillan and wife Monica of Magnolia, Texas; his brother Kemp McMillan and wife Diane, of Houston, Texas; two stepdaughters, Cara Howard and husband Danny of Dallas, Texas, and Julie Fried and husband Trent of Louisville, Kentucky; one grandson, Coen; one step-grandson, Wesley; two step-granddaughters, Shelby and Lindsey; and one step great-grandson, Henry. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2021, at 2:00pm, at Klein Funeral Home, 9719 Wortham, Houston, Texas 77065. There will be a celebration of his life at their home following the service.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Johnny, can make a monetary donation in his name, to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
