William "Dub" Clyde Kendrick Jr.
January 11, 1936 - March 3, 2021
Our father, William “Dub” Kendrick, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2021 from a long fought battle with Parkinson’s disease. He is survived by his three children, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren with two more on the way, expected deliveries
in May and June.
Dub was married 59 years to his wife, Nancy Leatherwood Kendrick, who passed away in April of 2019.
Dub was born in Fort Worth, Texas, to William “Bill” Kendrick and Inez Pugh Kendrick. Growing up in Fort Worth he attended Arlington Heights High School where he participated in track and football. Upon graduation he was recruited by Paul “Bear” Bryant to play
football for Texas A&M University. While there he also joined the Aggie Corps of Cadets and became a First Lieutenant. He graduated from Texas A&M with a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering and went on to earn his MBA from SMU.
Our Dad became an entrepreneur and started his own management consulting business. He specialized in streamlining assembly line productions within manufacturing plants. He spent the majority of his life traveling to manufacturing plants located across the United
States, but his skillset also took him all the way to Russia, where he helped a tire manufacturing plant become more efficient.
After the kids were “out of the house” Nancy was able to travel with Dub to some of his business engagements. Some of their favorite business trips together were to Utah. They took their dog with them, and mom would hike the mountains while she waited for Dad
to join her in the evenings. They made several good friends in Utah and always found a local church to attend on Sunday mornings.
When Dad wasn’t traveling he enjoyed fishing in Colorado and hunting in Texas, and he was the best hunting dog trainer we ever knew. His favorite hunting dog was a German Shorthair Pointer named Katy. Dad taught Katy all her commands in German because his hunting
buddy also had a dog named Katy. This alleviated confusion in the field, and was quite a conversation starter!
Dub accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at the age of 13 and spent the rest of his life telling others about Jesus. Mom and Dad held many Bible studies in their home and opened their door to those in need. During his last 20 years he was an active
member of Lake Pointe Church in Rockwall, Texas where he cultivated deep friendships with-in his Sunday School class. He also enjoyed the fellowship of the Rockwall Coaches Outreach prayer breakfast, and he belonged to a group of men who called themselves
the ROMEOs (Retired Old Men Eating Out).
Dad knew how to embellish a story, dragging it on forever. This tradition will be discussed at length, and remembered fondly, no doubt, by his closest friends and family. In the end he was tired and ready to see the home Jesus had been preparing for him, and
he longed to see his sweet Nancy again. He was loved, he is missed.
Our father will be honored during the Aggie Muster being held this year on April 21st.
