MARCH 13, 1947 – FEBRUARY 18, 2021
Ronald “Ron” Norman Labus, of Missouri City, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2021, at the age of 73.
Aservice in celebration of Ron’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., February 21, 2021, at Life Pointe Church in Missouri City, Texas. `
Ron was born on March 13, 1947 in Amarillo, Texas, to AJ and Mary Ann Labus. He attended Panhandle High School where he and Martha fell in love (though he would tell you it was long before then). Their 52 years of marriage set a beautiful example of love, forgiveness, and commitment to covenant for their three daughters and their husbands, eight grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
After high school, Ron attended Texas A&M and graduated in 1969. He was always a proud Aggie! After graduation, he began a career as an engineer with Dow Chemical and Enterprise Products Company. He retired after 47 years of hard work.
Once retired, Ron enjoyed having more time to spend with family, serving at Life Pointe Church, building in his shop, reading a good book, watching his Fox News, and traveling with Martha. His trip to the Holy Land was one of his favorites!
Papa, as he was lovingly known by his grandkids, enjoyed making his famous Papa waffles when the family gathered. Each grandkid treasured time and the unique bond shared with their Papa. His love of Christ showed powerfully in the ways he loved and served his family.
In imitation of Christ, Ron felt his deepest fulfillment in service to others. Whether family, friend, or stranger (though Ron knew very few strangers) Ron served people with abundant generosity and deep love.
He is survived by the love of his life, Martha; his three daughters and their spouses; Donna and Tommy Politz of Amarillo, Leah and Brad Caffey, Amy and Chris Pipkin, of Missouri City. His grandchildren and their spouses; Grant Politz, Rebekah and Matthew Noriega, Cole Ronald Politz, Camden Caffey, Carson Caffey, Riley and Nathan Wallace, Jenna Pipkin, Blake Pipkin. His great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Wallace. His mother, Mary Ann Labus; his sisters Diane, Debbie, and Lynette.
The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors of CHI St. Luke’s Hospital in Sugarland, Texas, who went above and beyond in their service as they comforted, loved, and cared for our Papa. Nurse Chance and Mary Lou nurtured him with tenderness and grace that we wish we could have given, and for that, we are deeply grateful. Thank you for surrounding him when we could not.
In lieu of flowers, the family would be greatly blessed by donations to Life Pointe Church.
