Carlos Francisco de Anda
September 28, 1945 - February 14, 2021

Carlos Francisco de Anda, 75, met his creator on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2021. It was appropriate that he left this world on Valentine's Day, as the day meant to celebrate love will forever commemorate Carlos' passionate, loving spirit.

Carlos was born Sept. 28, 1945 in Laredo, Texas, one of the most lively Texas border towns between Nuevo Laredo, Mexico and Texas. He is the eldest son of Carlota Valdez de Anda and Jesus Francisco de Anda. Carlos grew up in Laredo, Texas, a town booming with Mexican culture and history linked to being the largest inland port in the United States. Carlos left Laredo to further his quest for an education. He attended college at Texas A&M University, where he was a proud member of the Fightin' Texas Aggies Corps of Cadets. He earned his bachelor's degree in 1970 and always gave a friendly "Gig'Em!" to his friends and family.

After college, he served his country proudly as a member of the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in Germany and reported to duty as a medical technician during the Vietnam War.

After serving in the military, he returned to the world of academia where he completed his Masters Studies at the University of North Texas. Carlos was regularly initiated into The Psi Chi Chapter, The National Honor Society in Psychology where he undoubtedly matured his Freudian nuances. While in Denton, Carlos met his soul mate and wife, Martha Morolez, and later married her. Carlos and Martha remained married for 45 years and raised 2 children together in Fort Worth, Texas.

Carlos retired after working for decades at Southwestern Bell/AT&T, where he was a savvy telecommunications specialist and participated in the cutting edge expansion of "Long Distance" and later DSL. After retiring from the telecommunications industry he returned to work, as a workaholic can never be without work. Carlos returned to the world of education and worked as a Specialist with the Early Education program of Fort Worth. The program's goal is to help parents prepare their children for school. 'Sr de Anda' led his community as an educator, mentor, friend, neighbor, surrogate father, and leader no matter in what capacity he served. He led and/or participated in countless community groups giving endlessly of his time and energy and genuine desire to help those around him. His motto was to help bring education to those underserved or help brighten the day of those in need.

He was a loyal and ever- present husband, father, tio, grandfather, uncle, brother, cousin and a proud and loud member of The de Anda Familia. He led his family with dignity and grace that only a true gentleman could portray. He was the original "Most Interesting Man in the World" and radiated happiness and joy and peace with swagger and class. He often spread joy with kind words, gestures, greeting cards, thoughtful gifts, unexpected phone calls, and authentic kindness. He was that man who was available to share a cup of coffee with his compadres or close friend.

He was a family man who worked tirelessly to afford and provide a wonderful life for his family. He showed his family how to view life through his own unique perspective, how to adore the Mexican beaches of the world, how to sip on tequila, how to appreciate the sound of the waves, how to adore nature's beauty, how to appreciate art, how to appreciate the finer things in life. He showed his family how to love and adore and care for animals. He was the original "dog-cat-horse-snail-lizard-bunny-donkey-fish-whisperer". He never said no to his wife, children, nieces, nephews, goddaughter, godson, or grand-daughter, which earned him the rightful title of "The Sweetest, Most Giving Daddy, PaPa, Tio, Padrino, Viejito, Compadre." These memories undoubtedly resonate within all his friends and family to this very moment and for eternity.

Carlos Francisco de Anda is survived by his wife, Dr. Martha Morolez-de Anda; younger brother, Andrew D de Anda and sister-in-law, Patricia "Patsy" de Anda; son, Juan Carlos de Anda I; daughter, Lourdes de Anda-Chavez and her husband, Luis Chavez, Jr.; and his sole grandchild, Salome Dot Chavez.

Carlos will be missed by all his family members as well as his nephews, nieces, cousins, uncles, aunts who are all asking how he could have left this world so soon. His eternal optimism and compassion will be remembered for generations to come.

"You are Blessed and Highly Favored" was his favorite mantra. All that knew Carlos Francisco de Anda will forever be Blessed and Highly Favored.
