Gene Dale Hattox
October 15, 1935 - December 8, 2020
Hattox, Gene born on October 15, 1935, in Stephenville, Texas, Gene Dale Hattox died on December 8, 2020 after an eleven month battle of myasthenia gravis and then COVID-19. The son of James and Cleo Hattox, Gene graduated from Elgin High School and attended Texas A&M University graduating in 1957. After graduation, Gene went straight to the Army for 2 years and then finished the last 19 years in the Army Reserve.
Gene was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Linda Lee Hattox, his son, Robert Hattox, his daughter, Melinda Schott '90 and her husband Patrick, and by his grandchildren Michael, Makenzie and Madison Schott. In addition, he is survived by his sister Lenora Sappington and her husband Myron; as well as other loving family members and friends. Gene was particularly grateful of his friendship with Mike Hannasch and his poker friends; as well as all doctors and nurses that cared for him at the multiple facilities.
