John Edgar Rambie
May 7, 1932 ~ March 2, 2021 (age 88)

John Edgar Rambie took his last breath on earth and his first breath in heaven on March 2, 2021 surrounded by his family.

John was born on May 7, 1932 in Center Point, Texas, to Marcellus Rambie and Francis Thomason Rambie. In junior high, he moved to Uvalde, Texas, and lived there most of his life.

John graduated from Uvalde High School and went on to earn a degree in Range Management from Texas A&M University in 1954. He was a member of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets and loved his school. He spent most of his life ranching and farming, and he owned Foster-Rambie Grass Seed Company.

John loved hunting and fishing and watching his three children, David, Stephen, and Mary play sports. He was a no-nonsense kind of guy that was hard-working and kind. His word was his bond and he was loved by so many. He loved music and singing. He also played in a local Uvalde band called Wylie and the Coyotes. He was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church of Uvalde and loved the Lord. He enjoyed gospel songs and tapping his foot to music, even to the last hours of his life.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Roselin Sweeten Cavness Rambie, and by his parents, Marcellus and Francis Rambie.

Johnny is survived by his sister, Marcella Spurgeon of San Antonio, Texas; his first wife, Margaret Patterson; son David Foster Rambie and his wife, Devin, of Dallas, Texas; son, Stephen Rambie and his wife, Kathleen, of Uvalde, Texas; daughter, Mary Cole and Kurt Holm of Gardnerville, Nevada; stepdaughter, Tanya Gunzburger and her husband, David, of Buffalo, New York; stepdaughter, Tiffany Schmitt and her husband, Kurt, of Bethel, Connecticut; and stepson, Nathan Towry of Portland, Oregon. Grandchildren include: David F. Rambie Jr. and his wife, Katie; Dr. Hallie Bradley and her husband, Robert; Whitney Rambie Sanchez and her husband, Javier; Barrett Rambie and his wife, Aimee; Dakota Stephan; John Mark Stephan; Commander Austin Maxwell and his wife, Laura; Mallory Williams and her husband, Rob; Price Maxwell and his wife, Halie; and Chelsea Kegley and her husband, Matthew; Kellen Schmitt; Kylie Schmitt.
