Claud Edward Kissmann
May 17, 1947 - February 11, 2021

A memorial service for Claud Kissmann, 73 of Austin, Texas, is pending at this time. A family committal service will be held at the Giddings City Cemetery at a later date.

Claud Edward Kissmann was born on May 17, 1947 in Brenham, Texas, one of two sons born to Edwin Albert Kissmann Sr. and Hedwig “Hattie” Frieda (Urban) Kissmann. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings by Rev. Max Studtmann. Claud graduated from Giddings High School in 1965 and A & M University in 1973. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1968 and served in Vietnam until he was honorably discharged in 1971 under rank of Sergeant. He was united in marriage to Loretta Ann (Kieschnick) Romans on June 13, 1998. After working for Trane, Alamo Heights, and Southwest Research, he joined the Project Management and Construction Services department of the University of Texas at Austin in 2000 and retired from there in 2008. After retirement, he joined Ramsey & Company where he worked as an Applications Engineer. Claud genuinely loved his work. He was a member of the Association for Facilities Engineering (AFE), the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation (PKD Foundation), and served in many capacities with Thrivent. A faithful member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Austin, Claud also served as an usher for many years. He always gave 110% to whatever he was working on and no project was done until it was perfect. He always wanted to help others and would never turn away anyone that he could help. He enjoyed photography, studying and researching genealogy, fishing, and watching his grandson play baseball.

Claud passed away the afternoon of Thursday, February 11, 2021 at his home in Austin, surrounded by family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin Sr. & Hattie Kissmann.

Claud is survived by his wife, Ann Romans-Kissmann of Austin; his son, Craig Romans & Katie Lee of Maple Grove, MN; two grandsons, Zachary and Tarq both of Maple Grove, MN; his brother, Edwin Jr. & Shirley Kissmann of Giddings; two sisters-in-law, Peggy Siegeler & Kim Moerbe of Giddings and Sandra Dietz of Austin; three brothers-in-law, John & Linda Kieschnick of Giddings, Tom & Carol Kieschnick of Lincoln, and Billie & Eva Jo Kieschnick of Giddings as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Also survived by his stepchildren from previous marriage, Sharla, Shaun, and Terra.

Memorials may be made to the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation, Redeemer Lutheran Church in Austin, Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Manheim, or to the charity of one’s choice.
