Donald Wayne McCauley
April 12, 1933 - February 11, 2021

Donald Wayne McCauley was born on April 12, 1933 in Knott, Texas. His family moved to Liberator Village, a part of White Settlement, during WWII where his father was employed at the Convair bomber plant. He graduated from Arlington Heights High School in 1949, and then from Texas A&M College in 1953 with a degree in Civil Engineering. After commissioning in 1953 as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force, he was stationed at Carswell Air Force Base until his discharge in 1955. He served in the Air Force Reserve until 1979, retiring with the rank of Major. After his active service ended in 1955, he was hired by the Texas Highway Department (now TXDOT), District 2, in Fort Worth as a highway engineer. Over the next 37 years he held various engineering and construction positions within the district and was responsible for the design and construction oversight of many interstate highway projects in Tarrant and Parker Counties. He retired as the Weatherford Supervising Resident Engineer and District Construction Engineer, in 1992.

After Don graduated from Texas A&M, he married the love of his life, Shirley Sue Osborn and they were married for 67 years. To this union were born three sons. After retirement, Don and Shirley loved traveling together in their motorhome with their travels taking them to all the lower 48 states, and all the Canadian provinces. They made many friends traveling, over the years, and Don particularly enjoyed camping with his many friends from Weatherford and Fort Worth. He was a member of Lakeshore Baptist Church, and had taught Sunday School classes for many years, at various churches during his lifetime. He also formerly volunteered for Parker County Meals on Wheels, delivering meals to residents in Springtown.

Don passed from this life on 11 February, 2021 in Weatherford at the age of 87 while under the loving, compassionate care of the staff at Hilltop Park Rehabilitation and Care Center. He will be greatly missed.
