Troy Robert Hamlin
June 28, 1980 - October 10, 2020

Troy Robert Hamlin passed unexpectedly into the arms of his maker on October 10, 2020 to be forever embraced in God’s glory.

Troy was born June 28, 1980 in Washington D.C. as the son of COL(R) Elwood R. Hamlin II and Catherine A. Hamlin (Rauschert). He graduated from Moanalua High School in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1999. Following his graduation, he attended Texas A&M University where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and the class of 2003. Graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Science, Troy entered the commercial construction field where his mechanical aptitude, work ethic and problem-solving skills earned him a reputation of excellence and reliability.

His defining moment came when he married the love of his life, Christine Glywa on March 4, 2013. Over the years, Troy and Christine welcomed their cherished children, Carter and Grace, to the family to bring a tremendous amount of joy and pride to his life. His family was the focal center of his universe. As their father, mentor, and coach, Troy continually volunteered to coach his children’s sports teams and was dedicated to the happiness and development of their character. To all who know and love him, Troy possessed an insatiable curiosity that allowed for an abundance of hobbies and interests. He shared with Christine a true passion for collecting and restoring classic cars. In addition, he had a love for historical research of his family name and heritage. His other hobbies included Texas A&M football and travel with family and friends. Troy will be forever remembered as a devoted husband and dedicated father and his love, his character, and his presence will carry on in our hearts forever.

Troy is survived by his loving wife, Christine Glywa Hamlin of Overland Park, Kansas and his beloved son Carter (7) and daughter Grace (4). He is also survived by his adoring parents COL(R) Elwood R Hamlin II and Catherine A Hamlin of Highland Beach, Florida. He leaves behind his sister, Jill H Parnell '92 and husband Ward Parnell '91 of Houston, Texas, and children, Catherine, Cade, and Caroline; and his brother Todd R Hamlin '94 and wife Amanda Hamlin of Houston, Texas and children, Michael and Cooper; his father and mother-in-law Robert and Vera Glywa and his brother-in-law Michael Glywa and wife Cori Silliman and children, Brayden and Kinley.

Troy is preceded in death by his cherished grandparents, Robert and Edith Rauschert, and Elwood and Lillian Hamlin, each of Sacramento California.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks you to consider a donation in Troy’s name through GoFundMe in support of his young children’s educational trust.
