September 21, 1928 - January 22, 2021
Wayne B. McLaughlin, 92, beloved father and grandfather, passed away Friday, Jan. 22, 2021, in Fort Worth.
A private graveside service will be held at Greenwood Memorial Park.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or any other charity of your choice.
Wayne was born Sept. 21, 1928, in Jefferson, Oklahoma to William and Mildred McLaughlin. He was raised in Waco, Texas where he was graduated Valedictorian of Waco High School at the age of 16. Wayne was graduated from Texas A&M College in 1949 where he earned
a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a proud member of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets and commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserves, where he served for 12 years.
Wayne married Martha Roemmele Feb. 16, 1957 and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2007, a few months prior to her passing. Wayne enjoyed a successful career as an Engineer with General Dynamics/Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth, where he retired
in 1991. Most importantly, Wayne enjoyed his focus on his church, his family, and his Texas A&M Aggies. Wayne and Martha were longtime members of Western Hills Church of Christ. Wayne was a dedicated father and grandfather to his three children and two grandsons.
The McLaughlin family would like to thank the many caregivers at Broadway Plaza/ Watermark at Cityview over the last several years.
Survivors: Daughters, Karen McLaughlin '81 and Diane Boorman '84 and her husband, Warren '80; son, Shawn McLaughlin '83 and wife, Cindy; grandsons, Daniel Boorman '16 and Connor McLaughlin.
