Gary Earl Terzian
December 27, 1940 - December 20, 2020

Gary Earl Terzian, 79, from Bryan, Texas, passed away early Sunday morning December 20, 2020 while a resident of The Ivy at McKinney memory care facility.

He was born on December 27, 1940, in Panama, Central America to Earl and Inez Terzian. His childhood included memories in countries located throughout Central America with his two sisters and brother. As a teenager, Gary chose to travel to the United States to finish high school in California. In late summer of 1958, without ever visiting the school, he drove to Texas A&M to attend college in Texas... someone told him if you are going to be an engineer, there is only one school to attend. Gary graduated in 1962 with a degree in Civil Engineering. Always incredibly proud to be an Aggie, for 58 years he never took off his Aggie ring.

Gary met Mary Lavon Brock as he was finishing at Texas A&M. They fell in love and married, beginning their 49 plus years of marriage. After being newly married, Gary moved his bride to Central America. For his first job with British American Tobacco (BAT), Gary and Mary moved several times up and down Central America with their three children. He worked for the cigarette company for almost 18 years, but never smoked.

Promising his bride that they would return to the United States when their oldest child reached Junior High age, in 1975, they moved to Houston, Texas. The family settled in the northwest part of Houston off FM1960 (known as Jack Rabbit Road back then).

Gary was always very active in his community serving with Champions and Klein Volunteer Fire Departments over the next 30 years. He also taught with Texas A&M Fire School, helping establish the Spanish Fire Fighting School division. Gary also served with the Texas TASK Force 1 for 15+ years. He volunteered with Champion Forest Baptist Church, helping build the first Living Christmas Tree for the choir. Gary’s community service included blood donations reaching over 186 gallons during his lifetime (#2 in history for Gulf Coast Blood Center).

He is survived by son, Michael Terzian and wife, Debbie of College Station, Texas; daughter, Robin Terzian McCullough and husband, Mark of Kansas City; son, David Terzian and wife, Kelli of McKinney, Texas; nine grandchildren, five girls and four boys; numerous other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Lavon Terzian (2011), who was the love of his life.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Oak Grove Cemetery in Flatonia Texas. He will be laid to rest next to his bride, Mary Lavon in the Oak Grove Cemetery

*Directions: Southwest corner of I10 and SH95 (Penn St.)

The sign says Oak Hill Cemetery but you need to map it with the name Oak Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to:
