Victor "Vic" Howell
December 30, 1931 - January 03, 2021

Victor Howell left this world for his eternal home January 3, 2021 while surrounded by his family that he dearly loved.

Vic was born December 30, 1931 in Comanche, TX.

Vic was a Texas Aggie, class of 1953, and served in the Corps while in college. He earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Agriculture from Texas A&M University. He started his career as Land Rights Specialist for the Soil Conservation Service in Corsicana, TX, and began building his ranching business by investing in land and cattle.

Vic married Patty Sue Daniel on July 2, 1955. The two of them planted roots for what would become his greatest blessing and what he was most proud of, his family. Their daughter Vicki, was born in 1956. Vicki is their only child, and pride and joy. “Ruff”, as Vic called her, earned her nickname while working with Vic on the farm.

Vicki married Jay in 1976, and he quickly became Vic’s right-hand man and best friend.

Retiring in 1983, Vic was able to devote more of his time and energy into ranching, his true passion. This also provided more time for him to mentor his grandchildren and ranch hands, Jason and Ryan. The three of them could often be found riding the roads, tending to cattle, mending fences, and reading the Bible under a shade tree during breaks.

Vic served his Lord and Savior in numerous ways. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Corsicana. He worked on many charitable causes as a 33rd degree Master Mason, Scottish Rite and Shriner. He often sold and financed land for struggling families, donated hay to fellow ranchers in need and offered advice and life lessons to many others who call Vic their hero.

There is a void in the lives of family and many friends who love Vic, but we can celebrate knowing he’s earned his place in Heaven and we will meet again one day soon.

Mr. Howell was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Rusty Howell and his sister Charlotte Arthur.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years Pat, his daughter Vicki and husband Jay Payne. Grandchildren Jason and wife Amber Payne, and Ryan and wife Angie Payne. Four great grandchildren, Eli, Averleigh, Ryder and Rhett Payne, as well as many extended family and friends.

Friends and family are encouraged to gather for a time of visitation on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 from 6 to 8 in the evening at Corley Funeral Home. A service celebrating Vic’s life will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at 2 o’clock in the afternoon at the First Baptist Church of Corsicana with Dr. Danny P. Reeves officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Texas Scottish Rite for Children Hospital in Dallas or the First Baptist Church of Corsicana.
