Kathleen "Kathy" Marie Lynn
1957-2020

Kathleen Marie Lynn, Pasadena native and long-time Houstonian, lost her life in a tragic accident on December 17, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents - John R. Lynn Jr. and Ruth Ilene Hargraves. She is survived in life by her loving husband Craig Weems, also of Houston, her mother-in-law, sister-in-law, many nieces and nephews and her dear stepfamily, the Hargraves.

Kathy graduated as valedictorian from South Houston High School, received her B.S., Magna Cum Laude in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M (Class of '79), and earned her MBA from the University of Houston in 1983. Kathy began her career in the Oil and Gas industry with Exxon Mobil and continued a successful career as a banker. She has been the well-respected Chief Representative for the Houston office of SMBC since 2007, and she leaves behind many colleagues and business associates who will miss her strength, intelligence, wit, and compassion.
Kathy was passionate about increasing opportunities for women in engineering and partnered with Dr. Polycarpou to endow the Kathy M. Lynn 79' Scholarship Program for the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University. She thoroughly enjoyed her participation at Texas A&M and considered it a privilege to take part in such a valuable program.

Dachshunds were also a special passion of Kathy's, and her love of all dogs big and small was well known to all who knew Kathy- her collection of dachshund and beagle art was legendary. Kathy was also fond of many outdoor pursuits, and who along with her husband Craig was an avid golfer, snow skier and scuba diver. She and Craig also traveled often, and loved exploring new places both together as well as with friends.

The memorial service for Kathy Lynn will be held January 9, 2021 at St. Francis Episcopal Church on 345 Piney Point Drive in Houston at 10:00 AM under the direction of Father Stuart Bates. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested those who wish to do so to make a donation in Kathy's name to the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M in continuation of the program she was so very fond of.
