Michael was born August 31, 1954, at Fort Hood, Killeen, Texas, to Charles Marion and Georgine (Brown) Chapman. Michael grew up in several communities in Texas. Some of his favorite childhood memories included time with his friends and family in Mineral Wells, Texas, and his mustang pony named “Sally.”

Michael married the love of his life, Christina Dale Richards, on January 30, 1982, in Midwest City, Oklahoma, at the Eastside Church of Christ. He earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Civil Engineering at Texas A and M University. While in Texas, Michael worked for the Department of Water Resources and Austin City Services. He later worked for the Oklahoma State Department of Health before moving to Ponca City in 1984.

After the move to Ponca City, he worked for Blubaugh Engineering, then he and his friends started Chapman, Parr, and Gill. Chapman, Parr, and Gill changed names multiple times, but the firm is still in business today. After leaving the private sector, Michael became the Assistant City Engineer of Ponca City. He supervised the design and construction of the Ponca City RecPlex. Michael Chapman loved the city and people of Ponca City and enjoyed taking an active part in this great community.

Michael and his wife were active members of the Hartford Avenue Church of Christ. They loved and were loved by their brothers and sisters at the churches of Christ that meet at Hartford Avenue, Grand Avenue, and Agape. Michael was proud to call Hartford Avenue Church of Christ, his home. Michael enjoyed horses and was an avid reader. He listened to audiobooks until the time of his passing. Most of all, Michael loved his family, and he will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Christina, of the home; son, Phillip M. Chapman, and his wife, Ashley Heather of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and his mother, Georgine Chapman of the Wilson Community located in Henryetta, Oklahoma. Mike and Christina were blessed with three beautiful grandchildren, Michael Neal II, Riley Quincy, and Georgia Elenore Chapman. Additional survivors include his sisters, Sherlene Terry and her husband Paul of Spring, Texas; Tara Gregus, of Napierville, Illinois; sister-in-law, Edwina Griffith and her husband, Don of Midwest City, Oklahoma; several nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.
