Bill Cody Gilbert, Jr.
AUGUST 6, 1935 – DECEMBER 9, 2020

Bill C. Gilbert Jr., died peacefully at his home on December 9, 2020, in Garland, TX, at the age of 85. Bill is survived by his wife Barbara, daughters Candise Hanks (Horace) and Kelly Hughes (James), grandchildren Stevie Ammerman, Corey Lopez (Lacie), Tierney Gibbons (Olin) and Patrick Hughes (Zoila), sister Betty Wadkins, three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Bill C. Gilbert Sr. and Georgia Gilbert, his daughter Kimberly Maree Gilbert and his son Bill Cody Gilbert, III.

Bill was born on August 6, 1935, in Dallas, TX. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1956 and was a proud member of the Corps of Cadets. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Barbara, for 65 years. After graduation Bill served in the Air Force, flying the KC 97 Tanker. He started his commercial airline career in 1964 and retired from Continental Airlines after 31 years. He also served as Lt. Colonel in the Air Force Reserves. During his flying career, Bill accumulated approximately 25,000 hours of flight time. Bill was an active and dedicated member of Gideons International and found joy in spreading God's message of love.

A visitation will be from 3-5pm on Sunday, December 13, 2020, at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 W. Northwest Hwy, Dallas, TX. Funeral services are scheduled for 12pm on Monday, December 14, 2020, at Sparkman/Hillcrest. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bill's life.
