Richard Phillip Schauffler
OCTOBER 18, 1954 – DECEMBER 9, 2020

On Wednesday, December 9, 2020, Richard Phillip Schauffler, loving husband and best friend and father of four children, passed away at the age of 66.

Richard was born on October 18, 1954 in El Paso, Tx to Dr. Harry and Charlotte Schauffler. He received his degree in Wildlife and Fisheries from Texas A&M University in College Station in 1977. Even though he did not practice Wildlife and Fisheries he did put it to good use when the oilfield took a turn and he had to change careers. He was an Environmental Specialist and loved working with all his colleagues in the office and in South Texas.

On September 21, 1991, he married Cathy Elaine Ward. They raised Richard’s children, Cori Leah Schauffler, Lauren Cali Aegerter and Kyle Ian Schauffler and Cathy’s son, Paul Michael Ward.

Richard loved scuba diving and going to Disney World. He was always there for you if you wanted to talk scuba or Disney and occasionally, environmental. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate sprit. Oh yeah, guess he liked the Texas Aggies too.

Richard was preceded in death by his father, Harry, and his mother, Charlotte and his stepson, Paul.

He is survived by his wife Cathy, his three children, Cori, Lauren and Kyle and his grandkids, Hadley, William, Taylor, and Joshua.

There will be a memorial service in 2021 at the Aggie Field of Honor in College Station, TX.
