James Wolz Mistrot
July 30, 1930 - November 30, 2020
Born July 30, 1930, in Fort Worth, Texas to Antoinette (Nettie) Wolz and James Lee Mistrot, and died peacefully on November 30, 2020, at the age of 90 surrounded by his family.
James graduated from North Dallas High School in 1949 and began attending Arlington State College while a member of the Air National Guard. His unit was activated during the Korean War and assigned to Itazuke AB, Japan as the Public Affairs Officer which required regular deployment to Taegu AB, Korea.
Upon returning home, James continued his education at Texas A&M. While at A&M, James married Ann Meredith Logan on August 29, 1953. Ann was the girl next door and they fell in love, had five children, and eventually settled in Dickinson Texas.
James was an electrical engineer at NASA for 33 years working on the Apollo, Skylab, and Shuttle programs. After 36 years of government service, he finally retired in 1998 and enjoyed the open road with his second wife Marilyn Sutton (Jannasch) in their RV.
James and Marilyn were married in 1979 bringing a stepbrother and stepsister into the family. They both continued supporting their beloved Aggies by attending home games for 20 years, inviting their grandchildren to share the Aggie traditions. James always thought the world needed more Aggies. Marilyn sadly passed away of cancer in January 2000. In 2001 James married Bettye McBurney bringing another stepsister into the family. Bettye was an artist and the two enjoyed their retirement until Bettye sadly passed away of cancer in November 2016.
James is preceded in death by his second wife Marilyn and his third wife Bettye along with his parents and brothers and sister. James is the last member of the 4th American generation of the Mistrot family. James is survived by his children, Lawrence Mistrot and Rebecca Helms, Lesli (Mistrot) and Kurt Tentinger, John and Melanie Mistrot, Mark and Stephanie Mistrot, Michael Mistrot and Salina Foster along with Greg and Margarita Jannasch, Charlyn (Jannasch) and Jackson Ray, and Danice McBurney-Oliver. James also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many loving friends. James will be buried at Mount Olivet in Fort Worth, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org).
