Mr. Richard Dale Jones
November 15, 1947 - November 9, 2020

Funeral services for Richard Dale Jones, 72, of Gilmer, will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, November 14, 2020 at McWhorter Funeral Home with Bro. Jody Gardner officiating. Interment will follow at Gilmer City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm prior to the service.

Richard was born November 15, 1947, in Gilmer, Texas to W. C. “Bill” and Mable Seago Jones and departed this world to be with our Lord in Heaven on November 9, 2020. He married his love, Vicki Winn January 1, 2005, in Omaha, Texas.

Richard was an Educator, a Warden for TDCJ, The Chief of Liberty County Crime Stoppers, a Federal Prison Warden in the state of Oklahoma and the Director of NTCC Police Academy until his retirement. He was currently a reserve deputy sheriff for the Upshur County Sheriff’s Department. Richard was a member of the Pine Tree Church of Christ in Longview, Texas. He was a graduate from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, a Master’s Degree in College Administration from the University of Houston-Clear Lake and a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Vicki Jones; his children, Natalie C. Jones, Jason R. Jones, Adam Nelson, Brent Nelson and Amy Fuller; his brother, Jim and wife Deanna Jones; his grandchildren, Phoenix R. Evans, Rylan P. Jones, Jameson Richard Jones, Camila Gomez, Bradley Nelson, Brantley Nelson, Bryce Fuller, Trystan Fuller, Carsyn Fuller, Ethan Nelson, Eyston Nelson and Elyjah Nelson.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Mable Jones.
Pallbearers will be Jose Duran, Leonard Newman, Jason Pittman, Shane Mitchell, Adam Nelson and Brent Nelson.
Honorary pallbearers will be James Cox, Fuzzy Harmon, Bob Turner and Billy Ray Dean.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Smyrna Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 333, Harleton, Texas 75651.
