Obituary for Alton Lamar Wilkinson
Alton Lamar Wilkinson, 87, of Commerce, Texas, passed away on September 7, 2020, surrounded by loved ones.

Al was born on November 8, 1932, to Jeff and May Wilkinson in Dallas, Texas.

After graduating high school from Sherman High at the early age of 16, he volunteered and enlisted in U.S. Air Force, where he served as a Staff Sergeant in the Korean War.

Upon returning home from the war, Al attended Texas A & M University, where he earned not one but two Master's Degrees in math and physics.

Al was an entrepreneur at heart and excelled in many professions: sales at Data Control and Cable Vision then eventually starting a family business called Colonial Antiques. Al then had the opportunity to work with the love of his life, Gladys, at Waterview HOA where they also retired together in 2015. Al and Gladys met in 1968 and married on April 15, 1971.

Al enjoyed being around friends and family, listening to Willie Nelson's Roadhouse, and working outside on the farm with his son Chad.

Al is proceeded in death by his parents, Jeff and May Wilkinson, and is survived by his loving wife, Gladys; their children and their spouses, Glenn and Del, Gary, Kathryn and James, Tony, Chad and Alisha; grandchildren, Wayne, Krystal, Britney, Jessica, Londyn, and Westyn; great-grandson Draco; brother Jack and his wife Jan and their family; and numerous cousins.

Al was determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in this world, something he often mentioned. His wife and children were blessed to have a loving, caring, and compassionate man that always put his family first.
