Elizabeth Anne Slovak
JUNE 26, 1995 – JUNE 24, 2020
A beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend, Elizabeth Anne Slovak left this world, at 24, on June 24, 2020. Born in Dallas, Texas on June 26, 1995 to Marvin and Katrina Slovak, Elizabeth grew up in the M Streets neighborhood, where she attended St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School and Bishop Lynch High School before receiving a Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders from Stephen F. Austin University. She was currently enrolled in a Masters in Special Education at Texas A&M University.
Elizabeth was engaged to the love of her life Stefan Alexander Crane II. They were to be married on September 5, 2020.
Words do not do justice to Elizabeth’s character because who she was cannot be described. To describe Elizabeth is to describe a feeling; a feeling of genuine love, a feeling of someone caring about you for no reason other than you exist. Her final act of love was to be an organ donor. This kind and compassionate choice will result in lifesaving procedures for more than a dozen people.
Elizabeth’s commitment to others and the organizations to which she belonged was first exemplified in her Girl Scout career when she received the Gold Award for her project to catalog the public art in Dallas for the Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs. She so enjoyed her time as a camper at Camp Longhorn that she continued on as a camp counselor. In college, Elizabeth was a dedicated member of the Delta Zeta Sorority, serving as the Craft and Sisterhood chairs, as well as the Vice President of Programs for Panhellenic. She also served as a Jack Camp Counselor.
Elizabeth was a Speech Language Pathology Assistant and poured tremendous energy into her work. She was pure of heart and loved all children. She had a special propensity for her autistic students with whom she had astonishing success in aiding their development. She loved them and they loved her. Her presence will be sorely missed in the teaching community.
Elizabeth was a natural advocate. Her gift for bringing people together manifested itself regularly with her family, friends, coworkers and students. She planned five steps ahead, taking care of everyone and everything. She will continue to look out for others just like always.
Elizabeth was a life-long member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church. She is preceded in death by her grandfathers, Marvin Slovak, Sr., Dominic Colosimo, grandmother Ella Colosimo, and aunt Jill Hughes. Elizabeth is survived by her loving parents Katrina and Marvin Slovak; brother, Matthew Slovak; grandmother, Joy Slovak; fiancé, Alex Crane; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
