Philip Economides
1931-2014

Philip Economides passed away November 28, 2014. He was born in Thasos, Greece in 1931 to Anastasios and Katerina Voyiatzopoulos and immigrated to this country as a teen. He was raised in Galveston, TX by his uncle and godfather, Gus Economides. Philip received his degree from Texas A&M University in 1956 and is a proud Aggie. He retired from the Fluor Corporation where he had numerous friends that became family. Philip was a member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral where he served on the Board of Trustees and served as Chairman of the Greek Festival. He was also instrumental in the development of the Greek Orthodox Community Center. He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years Katherine who was by his side throughout his entire life, caring for and loving him with all her heart. Philip was proud of all of his children Cathy, husband Steven, Stacy, wife Patricia, Gus, wife Julie, Christine, and her husband Dean. He was a proud Papou to his nine grandchildren Anastasia, Christina, Costa, Nicolette, Alexandra, Katina, Katherine, Hailey, and Kyle.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with the Trisagion Service at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, November 30, 2014 at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 1, 2014 at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 3511 Yoakum Blvd., Houston, TX 77006. Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Costa Economides, Steven Bonner, Dean Panagopoulos, Alex J Koumonduros, Alex G Koumonduros, Dimitri Zgourides, Christo Zgourides, and Phillip Mallios. We are blessed to have Honorary Pallbearers Gus Zgourides, Ted Zgourides, Joe Satel, Jimmy Mallios, and Emile Pappas.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that all donations be made to the Benevolence Fund at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
