David Thomas Wiggins
February 6, 1946 - September 7, 2020

David Thomas Wiggins ’68, was born in Houston, TX on February 6, 1946 and passed away in Nashville, TN on September 7, 2020.

David was proceeded in death by his parents, Tom and Lou Wiggins and his wife, Linda Blanton Wiggins.

His remaining family includes his two daughters Alicia and Tessa Chadwick, his brother, Alan Wiggins ’71, and sister, Dena Ramey, grandson Hayden Chadwick ’17, nieces Monica Wiggins Sneller ’98 and Stephanie Wiggins Bieniarz ’06, and Linda’s son Quinn Blanton and daughter Donna Feathers.

David came to Texas A&M in early 1964 on a football full scholarship playing first for Hank Folberg and later Gene Stallings. Although he was a half-back throughout junior and senior high school, he became a defensive linebacker for the Fightin’ Texas Aggies.

Despite his athletic prowess, David had a natural talent for art, which remained a active hobby throughout his life. His early favorite medium was pastels and colored pen and link. Later he branched out into oils and mixed media.

In addition to his art, David was into collecting antique cars, furniture, telephones, toys, watches and clocks. But he was truly into his dogs. Over the years he owned several English bulldogs and later several pugs. After the passing of his last beloved pug, Gabriel, he adopted a Schnoodle (half Schnauzer / half poodle) named Oscar, which became his final four-legged companion.

David married and started his family not long after graduating from Texas A&M with a degree in Marketing. His sales positions with several companies moved him and his family to numerous U.S. locations including Ft. Worth, Houston (several locations), Chicago, Louisville, Nashville, and Denver. During the oil boom of the early 1980’s he even lived and worked in the London, England area in the town of Chertsey in Surry County.

But while he moved around the country in his sales career, it wasn’t until he met Linda Blanton, and settled down in Hendersonville, that his golden years began. With Linda, David finally gained a true soul mate and extended family. One of their favorite forms of travel was cruising the Caribbean, an activity they enjoyed together and with members of Linda family for over 20 years.

David was a long-time resident of Hendersonville, Tennessee and an active member at First Baptist Church Hendersonville, where he sang in the choir and volunteered for Vacation Bible School and other church activities. Locally he volunteered in the Henderson school system’s Literary Alliance helping young children learn to read.
