James Dale Mintz
AUGUST 3, 1934 – SEPTEMBER 13, 2020
JAMES DALE MINTZ was born August 3, 1934, in Houston, Harris County, Texas, the eldest son of Sam and Eula Lea (“Boots”) Mintz. He and Norma Teresa Bass Mintz were united in marriage on August 19, 1955, at First Baptist Church Spring Branch, Houston, Texas. James was a life-long resident of the Houston area and graduated from Charles H. Milby High School in 1952. He was in the class of 1956 of Texas A & M College and also studied at the University of Houston.
James’ engineering career spanned 48 years working in the oil and gas/ petrochemical industry with major clients all across the U.S. and Alaska. He founded Mintz & Associates, Inc., which was an electrical engineering firm.
James was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Teresa Bass Mintz; his parents, Sam and Eula Lea (“Boots”) Mintz of Houston; and four brothers, Reagan Lee Mintz of Houston, Donald Dean Mintz of Richmond, Edwin Lawrence (“Punkin”) Mintz of Navasota, Henry Wayne Mintz of Houston.
His survivors include his two daughters and sons-in law, Gail and Eddie Albritton of Conroe and Cheryl and Lloyd Walker of Belton; one granddaughter, Jessica and Evan Traylor of Conroe; four grandsons – Jason Herren of Conroe; Matthew and Emily Walker of Ft. Worth; Bryan and Mallory Walker of Harker Heights; and Noah Walker of Belton; and ten great-grandchildren, Andrew and Emily Herren of Conroe; Max Herren of Houston; Jackson and Jacob Traylor of Conroe; Colt, Elizabeth and Daniel Walker of Ft. Worth; and Levi and Abigail Walker of Harker Heights. He is also survived by three sisters-in-law: Ann Mintz, Barbara Mintz and Cathy Mintz and many nieces and nephews.
James was a devoted husband and father. He loved fishing since childhood and was proud to be a member of Boy Scout Troop 126 which was led by his father. After retirement, he and his wife enjoyed traveling and RVing. He loved his family, friends and was extremely proud to be an “Aggie”. But, most of all, he loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
