Henry “Harry” Harrison Campbell III passed away on June 15, 2020. We will celebrate his life of 79 years at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 20, 2020, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. In support of the health of our community, the seating is limited due to the social distancing requirement set by Governor Abbott. The service will be live-streamed and be available for thirty days on this page. Harry was born on September 6, 1940, to Harold and Grace Campbell in Matador, Texas. His family had a long heritage in ranching around Matador and his great-granddad Henry Harrison “HH” Campbell was the founder of the Matador Land and Cattle Company in 1879. Harry graduated from Matador High School in 1959 and went on to receive his Associate of Science degree from Tarleton State University in 1962. He then attended Texas A&M University and earned his Bachelor of Science in 1963. Harry was named “Distinguished Student” in 1962 and 1963 at A&M. He received his Master of Education from Texas A&M in 1976. Harry was a member of the Alpha Zeta chapter of Epsilon Sigma Phi.

Harry chose a different path from ranching and went to work as an Assistant County Extension Agent in Nacogdoches, Texas and a Broiler-breeder Supervisor for the Ralston Purina Company. He later worked as an Associate County Extension Agent in Denton, Texas and was the County Extension Agent in Dickens, Texas. He then became a Texas A&M Extension 4-H specialist in Ft. Stockton, Texas and Vernon, Texas and finished his career as a 4-H and youth development specialist in Bryan-College Station, Texas retiring in 1995. Harry received two state awards for Outstanding Extension Agent for Promotion of Forestry and Outstanding Extension Agent in 4-H and Youth Work. He was a member of TAEX Specialist Association and the Texas Association of Extension 4-H Agents. His past civic and service associations included Master of Spur Masonic Lodge and Lions Club.

Harry found the love of his life, Marion Francene Nix (Fran) of Kermit, Texas and they married in 1980. They have never been apart for the last 40 years.

Harry enjoyed traveling to different places around the world. He was very enthusiastic about his steaks, medium rare, please. Harry maintained a very strong faith in God. He was always eager to help others. Harry’s biggest passion was his family and life.

Survivors include his wife, Fran Campbell; children, Michelle (Brent) Howard of Kansas City, Kansas, Stephanie (Dale) Langford of Pampa, Texas, Annette (Tommy) Premeaux of Houston, Texas; and Aaron (Vira Lopez) Campbell of Iowa Park, Texas; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Guy Campbell.
