Patrick Thomas Gordon
MARCH 9, 1944 – AUGUST 22, 2020

Patrick Thomas Gordon went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 22, 2020, in Houston, TX. He was born on March 9, 1944, in Phoenix, Arizona, to Harry Clement Gordon and Esther Mary Gordon.

As a military brat, Pat enjoyed spending his younger years in Hawaii and Wichita Falls, TX. When he was in high school his parents retired to San Antonio, TX, where Pat often stopped by the Alamo before catching a bus home from school. Pat bled maroon and graduated from Texas A&M University with both undergraduate and graduate degrees in geological sciences in 1966. As a freshman, Pat was a member of the prestigious Fish Drill Team. Pat loved being a part of the Corp of Cadets during college. Upon graduation he entered the Army as a commissioned officer where he served in the Vietnam War.

After serving in the Military, Pat moved back to Houston, TX, and started his career as a geologist in the oil and gas industry. Pat was active in the Houston Geological Society and served as their president in 1992. Pat’s love for rocks extended beyond his career. He enjoyed taking the family on trips to Big Bend National Park and Grand Canyon National Park. Pat loved being a part of Memorial Drive Presbyterian church and was active for many years in Men’s Life, the Seeker’s Sunday School class, and his Love Circle which has been meeting since the 1980’s. Mo-Ranch was an all-time favorite spot for Pat and his family. During the summers Pat enjoyed beach time on Hilton Head Island and trips to visit family in Pittsburgh, PA.

Pat was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth (“Liz”) K. Geyer. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Judith Gordon; daughter Lisa Schlessman of Magnolia; son David Schlessman and wife Thelma of Katy; daughter Amy Asch and husband Tom, of Houston; son Luke Gordon and his wife Julie of Lakeway; son Seth Gordon and wife Kara of La Grange; and twelve grandchildren (who knew him as Papap) Noah, Joshua, Isaac, Meredith, Nathan, Daniel, Jacob, Caleb, Hannah, Asher, Micah, and Emma.

A memorial service will be Friday, August 28, 2020 at 11:00 am at Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church, 11612 Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77024.
