Rhett Michael Birdwell
DECEMBER 27, 1988 – AUGUST 17, 2020
Rhett Michael Birdwell left this world on August 17, 2020. Rhett was born in Flagstaff, Arizona on December 27, 1988 and was adopted by Joni and Randy Birdwell as a newborn. He joined his two sisters, Rebekah Birdwell and Raegan Seaton (née Birdwell), in The Woodlands, Texas, where he grew up.
How do you capture the essence of Rhett? He was a complex boy and then man. He fought his demons, but he had a heart as big as Texas, was immensely loyal to his family and friends, and looked out for those who could not always look out for themselves.
Born in Arizona, he came to Texas as a newborn and was a fiercely proud Texan and Aggie to the end. He was often in the valley, but always walking with the Lord. When he was on the mountaintop, he brought great joy to those around him, a charmer who could light up any room. He had the love of little children and the canine world. In the eyes of his grandfather, that would be the ultimate measure of a man. Seeing him dance, swim, and rough house with his nephews, Joshua, James and Logan, would bring a smile to your face. A dog trainer, he raised his two pups, Belle and Bandit, to be very special family members who were devoted to their daddy and he to them. He leaves a wonderful legacy to his family with those babies.
Rhett was a voracious reader and student of history, always ready to share that knowledge with those around him. Gifted with a quick intellect, no one could weave a tale better than Rhett, making you laugh out loud as his stories unfolded, not always sure if they were real or fables. Handy and with an eye for design, he was the “go to” person in the family for those who were challenged in those arenas. Though sometimes difficult, Rhett brought a magic to this world that will be greatly missed.
Rhett is survived by his mother, Joni Cope, and his father Randy Birdwell [Suzanne], his sisters, Rebekah Birdwell [Tony Stein] and Raegan Seaton [John], his biological twin brother, Destry Mulloy, his nephews, Joshua and James Seaton, his best friend, Logan Miedema, his dogs, Belle and Bandit, his aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.
Rhett is preceded in death by his sister, Jackie Birdwell.
In lieu of flowers, the family would request that any donations you might choose to make be given to Friends for Life Animal Shelter, 107 E 22nd Street, Houston, Texas 77008, 713.863.9835, friends4life.org/donate/. And Rhett would certainly love for you eat a steak in his memory.
