David Martin Krause
January 7, 1937 ~ August 12, 2020 (age 83)
David Martin Krause, age 83, of San Antonio, passed away peacefully in the mid-morning hours of Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at Season’s Alzheimer’s and Memory Care in San Antonio. David was born on January 7, 1937 in Cameron, Texas to Felix A. and Maurine Martin Krause.
David married the love of his life, and his best friend, Charlotte Cowan, on July 9, 1965 in Burlington, Texas. They had three children, endured countless ups and downs, and created a lifetime of memories that will live on in the hearts of those he knew and loved.
David earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Texas A&M University and went on to work for State Farm for 35 years where retired as a claims supervisor. David was a devout Catholic and believed strongly in giving back to his church and fellow parishioners. He had a heart as big as Texas and gave of his time and of himself, literally over 10,000 gallons of blood donated, to countless charities and organizations from Catholic services to meals-on-wheels and the Haven for Hope, as well as many others. David was a longtime member of the St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
David was also an avid sports fan. He would spend countless hours watching sports, officiating high school and college football, and most proudly coaching any sport that his children were involved in while growing up. David, a die-hard Texas A&M Aggie, was rarely seen without showing his proud Aggie spirit. He loved being outdoors doing anything from gardening to hunting and he enjoyed collecting all sorts of things but those who knew him best will always remember the love he had for his wife of 55 years, his children, grandchildren and extended family.
David leaves behind a legacy of dedication to his Lord and family, of charity to those in need and of love for life and those around him that will live on for generations.
David is survived by his wife Charlotte, of San Antonio; children, Darren Martin Krause, and wife Luci, of San Antonio, Michele Sandefur, and husband Shawn, of Copper Canyon, and Stephanie McClellan, and husband Michael Bryan, of Shertz; grandchildren, Brittany Trowbridge, and husband Al, Kristen Grooms, and husband John, Morrison McClellan, Ophelia McClellan, and Martin McClellan; great, grandchildren, Nadia Trowbridge, Natalia Trowbridge, Mallory Grooms and John Martin Grooms; sister, Judy Hagen, and husband John; and by a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and very special friends.
David was also preceded in death by his parents and by two sisters, Peggy Forrest and Jackie Meek.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, August 17, 2020 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. 4411 Moana Drive, San Antonio, TX 78216.
