Jerry Herbert Freer
September 10, 1934 - November 17, 2015
Jerry Herbert Freer, age 81, of Mineral Bluff, GA passed away November 17, 2015. Born in Angleton, TX he was the son of the late Herbert L. and Gertrude Bluett Freer. Mr. Freer served our country in the United States Air Force and retired after 25 years of service as a Major. He worked during that time as a Mechanical Engineer for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). He later worked and retired again from the Harris Corporation as a Defense Contractor. Jerry was also a member of the Temple Baptist Church.
Survivors include his children and their spouses, Ronald W. and Vivian Freer of Trion, NC, Randall C. and Elizabeth Freer of Crawfordville, FL, and Jana F. and Michael McErlean of Annandale, VA; grandchildren, Austin Freer, John Michael McErlean, and Brenna McErlean Lord; great grandchildren, Kellen McErlean and Langston McErlean Lord.
The family will hold a Memorial Service to honor the life of Mr. Freer on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. from the Temple Baptist Church with Dr. Roger Beck officiating. Military rites will be provided the United States Air Force. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.akinsfuneralhome.com. Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge was in charge of the arrangements.
