William Gerald Sarver, Sr.
October 26, 1937 - July 10, 2020
Plano, Texas

William Gerald Sarver, Sr., 82, passed away July 10, 2020, in Plano, Texas. He was born in Baytown, Texas, October 26, 1937, to George L. and Mary O. Sarver.

He spent the early years of his life in the Wooster area of Baytown, attending church and schools there, and graduating from Robert E. Lee High School. While in high school Bill was a captain of the football team and also pursued an early love of rodeo, trailering his horse Gyp to local events where he competed in calf roping.

He then became an avid Texas Aggie, joining the Corps of Cadets in hopes of earning a commission in the Army Air Corps as a pilot. Less than perfect eyesight would keep him from realizing this dream but his love of flying continued throughout his life, piloting his own planes in lieu of commercial flights whenever possible.

He earned a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering from Texas A&M University and started an agricultural lime and liquid feed business to make new developments in Ag Science available to the market. He was always an entrepreneur, learning and growing from one business on to the next opportunity. His knowledge of engineering and construction led him into a successful career in consulting, with much of this involved in the rebuilding of major buildings after natural disasters. His affinity for agriculture was never very far away, as he ranched in Houston County for many years. His easy smile and playful attitude made him many friends, a favorite "uncle" to the younger generation and a beloved grandfather as well.

He is survived by his wife, Muazzez "Mina" of Plano; his sons: William Gerald Sarver, Jr. and wife, Patty, of Plano; and Brett Lynn Sarver and wife, Tracy, of Houston; her daughters: Leyla Sulaiman and husband, Cody Boyle, of Lakewood Village, TX; and Dalya Sulaiman of Istanbul, Turkey; and grandchildren: Caroline and Nick Martin, Will and Jessica Sarver, Audrey Sarver, Sarah Sarver, Ceyda Haggan, Selin Yazici and Serra Yazici. He is also survived by his brother, George L. Sarver, Jr. and wife, Bettie, of Latexo; nephews, George Sarver and wife, Laura, of Poulsbo, WA; Ron Sarver and wife, Teri, of Austin, TX; nieces, Kimberly Sarver, of Pinehurst, TX; and Pamela Barrett of Raleigh, NC; great-nieces and nephews; numerous cousins and many friends in places all over the world. He was preceded in death by parents, George and Mary Sarver.

Funeral services will be held graveside at the Lake View Cemetery, Lavon, TX, Wednesday, July 15 at 1:00 PM.

Services entrusted to Charles W. Smith & Sons of Lavon, Texas.
