Clyde Charles Thompson, Jr
January 24, 1927 - April 18, 2020

Clyde C. Thompson, Jr. of Flower Mound, Texas entered into eternal life in the presence of the Lord on April 18, 2020, in Grapevine, Texas at the age of 93.

He was born in Decatur, Wise County, Texas on January 24, 1927, to Clyde, Sr. and Otillie Thompson. After graduating from Electra High School in June 1944, Clyde followed the call, as did many in the “Greatest Generation”, to serve his country in the US Army during WW II. He was honorably discharged in November 1947. Soon after his discharge, Clyde was hitchhiking to College Station where he would begin his studies at Texas A&M University. He graduated in 1950 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. His career took him across Texas, Oklahoma and around the world. He most notably held managerial positions in Norway and Germany.

Eventually, he returned to Bartlesville, Oklahoma where he retired from Phillips Petroleum in 1986, after 30 years of service. Clyde will always be remembered as a responsible man that cared for his family as he generously provided for their needs and the needs of many others as well. He was an avid clock collector and took pride in always having the correct time of day.

Clyde was preceded in death by a son, Charles Allen Thompson, in 1952 and a son-in-law, Steve Graham in 2017. He is survived by his wife of almost 70 years, Dorcas “Dot” (Andrews) Thompson of Flower Mound, Texas; daughter, Rosalyn Dittman of Bixby, Oklahoma; son, Tom Thompson and wife, Marla Thompson of Yuma, Arizona; and daughter, Jana Graham of Paradise Valley, Arizona; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is notably survived by nephew Mark Baulch ‘80 and a grandson Beau Graham ’10.

A private family service was held in Electra, Texas on April 23.
