David Howsley
July 18, 1920 - July 28, 2015

David Langford Howsley, Purcell, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Sunset Estates Nursing Home. Memorial service, under the direction of Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell, will be held Friday, July 31, 2015 at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Purcell, Oklahoma at 4:00 p.m. Presiding will be the Rev. Bill Shields. Mr. Howsley was 95.

Born and raised in Throckmorton, Texas, Mr. Howsley lived most of his life in that community, other than his service time in the Navy during World War II and a short period in Ft. Worth, Texas. He married Emilie Foerster on September 27, 1981. He was a farmer/rancher for many years, a meat inspector for USDA, and also served as Throckmorton County Judge for a time. He moved to Purcell in 2006 and lived with his son, Matt and family. He was born on July 18, 1920 and was proud to have lived to the age of 95, being the oldest living Howsley male for many generations.

He was an avid fisherman, hunter and had a wonderful talent in wood-working. He loved spending time in his workshop and also enjoyed crossword puzzles, watching tennis and football on television and beating his family in a good game of Scrabble. He was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Purcell and had been a lifelong mem-ber of the First Christian Church in Throckmorton, Texas, serving as an Elder there.

He is survived by his son, Matt Howsley and daughter-in-law, Elaine, of Purcell; daughter, Angela Bell and son-in-law, Dan, of Ft. Worth, Texas; son, Paul Howsley of Ft Worth, Texas; step-daughter, Annegret Mondey of Gainesville, Ga.; and step-son Werner and step daughter-in-law, Pat Foerster, of Colorado Springs, Colo. He leaves behind six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Josh, Dani, Aubry and Emilie Howsley of Purcell; David, Jes¬sica., Kailynn and Bailey Howsley of Newcastle, Okla.; Nick, Colleen and Grayson Patton of Grapevine, Texas; Victoria Bell of Ft. Worth, Texas; Traci, Paul and Tayler DeNaples of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Tammy, Adam, Rosemary, Jaxon and Jaden Davis of Bartlesville, Okla.; Summer, Owen and Estes Gaaseleden of Iowa City, Iowa, and Marcus Foerster of Colorado Springs, Colo. He also is survived by two sisters, Evalynne Dunlap of Graham, Texas, and Annelia Cross of Arlington, Texas; one brother, Andy Howsley of Lubbock, Texas, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Emilie Howsley; parents Louis A and Gracie Jane Howsley; brothers, Vernon, Carvel, L.A. and Bembrey Howsley; sister, Hester King; and grandson, Carl Foerster.

Mr. Howsley will be buried in Throckmorton, Texas, at a graveside service with military honors on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 10:00 a.m., with his daughter-in-law, Pastor Elaine Howsley presiding.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to First Christian Church, PO Box 366, Purcell, Okla.
