Roll Call Tribute

Clinton C. “Clint” Crampton, passed away Saturday, May 23, at home in Brenham with his parents by his side as a result of complications from a long struggle with cancer. He was 43.

Clint leaves behind a family that will miss him dearly but are thankful his suffering is over and he now lives with Jesus. Clint shared a life full of love with his parents Becky and Speedy Crampton, his brother Luke Crampton and wife Hannah, sister Kelly Morris and husband Jon, and especially his niece and nephews, June, Ty, Wyatt, and Cash Crampton, and Noah, Wesley, and Levi Morris, and 16 years with his sweet dog, Sasha.

Although his body is gone, Clint will never be dead. His spirit lives on in the memories of the countless hours he spent with his nephews and niece playing video games, going to the movies, watching sports, going to town, telling silly jokes, and just chatting. He will also live on in the interests and loves the he has sparked in them – Astros and Aggies; Boy Scouts and band; John Grisham books, history, and traveling; Legos and superheroes; Star Wars, and all things Disney.

Although his physical presence will be missed, his spirit will live on in the quiet moments spent on the porch watching the cows with his parents and taking care of Sasha.

Clint will also continue to live in the successes of the hundreds of students that he dedicated his time to, advised, and guided in his 20 years as an academic advisor at Texas A&M University.

Memorial services are set for 2 p.m. Saturday, June 6, at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Burton.

Clinton C. “Clint” Crampton ’99, a 2000 graduate of Texas A&M University and longtime academic advisor in the Texas A&M Department of Biology, passed away Saturday, May 23, at home in Brenham with his parents by his side as a result of complications from a long struggle with cancer. He was 43.

Memorial services are set for 2 p.m. Saturday, June 6, at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Burton, Texas, under the direction of Memorial Oaks Chapel Inc. for Crampton, who had served as an academic advisor within the Texas A&M Biology Undergraduate Program since January 2004.

“Clint was funny, warm and very generous,” said Dr. Thomas D. McKnight, professor and head of Texas A&M Biology. “He was a wonderful advisor with great empathy for and understanding of our students, and they loved him. Clint was a good friend and colleague to many of us in the department, and he will be missed by us and his students.”

A Houston native, Crampton graduated from Spring High School in 1995 and received an associates’ degree from Lone Star College prior to enrolling at Texas A&M in 1997 to pursue a bachelor of science in political science. As a student in the College of Liberal Arts, Crampton served as vice president of the Political Science Society en route to earning his Texas A&M degree in the subject in 2000. After graduation, he worked as a scholastic supervisor in Texas A&M Athletics before moving to Texas A&M Biology in 2004.

“Clint is already deeply missed by the Undergraduate Advising Office, the students and advisors in other departments,” said longtime colleague and fellow academic advisor Christine Farris ’92, a member of the Texas A&M Biology advising team since 2001. “Many commented on how much they loved his sense of humor and how appreciative they were about his willingness to jump in and help at any moment for anything, from setting up computer presentations to staying late or coming in on a Saturday to meet with prospective students. His dedication to students will always be remembered.”

Crampton is survived by his parents, Becky and Speedy Crampton; his brother and sister-in-law, Luke and Hannah Crampton ’08; his sister and brother-in-law, Kelly and Jon Morris; his niece, June Crampton; his nephews, Ty, Wyatt and Cash Crampton, and Noah, Wesley and Levi Morris; and his beloved dog daughter, Sasha.
