June 6, 1936 - May 24, 2020

Leroy Gust Hyltin Jr., age 83, passed away on May 24, 2020, in Baytown, Texas.
Leroy was born on June 6, 1936, in Kenedy, Texas to Leroy and Thelma Hyltin. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shirley Parker Hyltin and his children, Lorie Lee Trenery and husband Steven, Carl Parker Hyltin and wife Barbara; 7 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved son, Roger Brent Hyltin.

Leroy graduated from Kenedy High School where he was an Eagle Scout. He is a graduate of Texas A & M University class of 1958; and was a member of the Fighting Texas Aggie Band. After college he served in the United States Air force where he received the American Spirit Honor Medal.

In 1968 he joined the Petroleum & Minerals Group of Dresser Industries as a Risk Manager. At Dresser he traveled extensively both in the US and abroad. He was President of the Houston Chapter of Risk & Insurance Management. In 1987 Leroy and Shirley moved to Waco, Texas to start a new Risk Management department at the City of Waco. He held this position until his retirement in October 2000. He served as chairman of the Board of the Texas Political Subdivision Group, and President of the Texas Chapter of PRIMA. Leroy enjoyed life. He loved hunting, fishing and baseball. He adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren and his beloved dogs. Although Leroy was born and raised in Kenedy, he always told everyone he was from Baytown, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that any contributions be made to the Cedar Bayou Grace Methodist Church.
