Billy Frank Broyles
February 20. 1928 - February 09, 2020

Billy Frank Broyles took his first breath of life on February 20. 1928 in Trinity, Texas.
Parents were Benjamin Franklin Broyles and Ora Skaines. Billy lived all of his youth in Trinity and graduated from Trinity High School in 1945. While in high school he played saxaphone in the Starvin' Seven band. During his junior and senior years, he ran the projector at the local theater. As would be expected by those who knew him, he was a very good student.

He left home after high school to attend Texas A&M College, but had to leave before graduation to return home for a short time to help his mother and sister after the death of his father.

"Once an Aggie, always an Aggie." He continued his education at Texas A&I College in Kingsville and ultimately graduated from the University of Houston with a BA (engineering) in 1952.

Billy quickly began his professional career as a draftsman for Keystone. After s few years, he was hired by ENTEX. This employment took him to several towns in Texas. He retired in Houston in 1993 as Director of Engineering and Operations.
Billy marrried Joan Dunn May 9, 1953. They had children Gary in 1954 and Patricia in 1960.

While a father, husband and employee, he was active in various Chambers of Commerce, an East Texas Boy Scouts of America leader and officer for 20 years, and active in his local church.

Billy had many interests. He collected miniature trains, played golf, did gun shell reloading, hunted, fished and enjoyed tending his property in Wimberley. He LOVED Christmas and kept a small tree out and lit year round! He was a member of the NRA, the North American Hunting Club, the Texas Rifle Association, a lifetime member of the Texas Gas Association, and member of the National Railway Historical Society.

Billy joined the National Guard in 1994 and later became a member of the Army Reserves. He honorably retired from service in 1987 as a Lt. Colonel.

On December 3, 1993, Billy married Margaret (Maggie) Payne Graham. Maggie was already living in the home they had selected in Wimberley. He soon joined the Wimberley Lion's Club where he became an Ambassador and filled several different roles during Market Days until his health prevented further service. He was also a member of the local birding society. He was a member of St Stephen's Church, where he served as a Lay Chaplain and enjoyed attendance until just a few weeks before his journey home to Christ.

Billy will be greatly missed in the community and by those who knew him and loved him. He leaves a legacy of his life through his daughter, Pat Danner and husband, David, (Jacksonville),son Gary F. Broyles, (Buda), three grandsons, one granddaughter and four great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary Frances, (Cuz), baby son John David, and former wife Joan.
Memorial services will be held March 15, 2PM at St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Wimberley, with a reception afterwards.

Graveside services in Trinity, TX are TBA. In lieu of flowers, he requested donations be made to the Wimberley Lion's Club Scholarship Fund.
