Grady J. Lane, Jr.
March 12, 1922 ~ April 19, 2020 (age 98)

Grady was born in Paducah, Texas. He is one of four children and the only son. He is proud to have a sister that is 100 years old and still driving! As a youngster, Grady moved around quite often with the family and lived in several small towns throughout West Texas. He served his country in the United States Army in the Asiatic-Pacific following the War, he served in the Army Reserves.

Grady was married for sixty years to his lovely wife Marie. He was two sons, two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He graduated from Texas A&M in 1944 with B.S. in Agronomy. He then went to work teaching veterans vocational AG to assist them in learning the skills of farming. He also worked for the USDA Soil Conservation Service. He than went to work as the manager for Taylor-Evans Farm Store. He was employed by Amarillo National Bank as the Farm and Ranch Manager, overseeing approximately three hundred pieces of real estate held by the bank in the Trust Department.

Grady is a member of the Downtown Kiwanis Club, St. Stevens Methodist Church, Texas A&M Club, The Assc. of Former Students and is a proud Eagle Scout! He enjoyed golfing in his younger days. In summation, one of the most profound memories of his life was the witnessing of the Peace Treaty being signed in Tokyo Bay September 2, 1945, ending WWII. He viewed this from three hundred yards away with his field glasses and is something he will never forget. It is truly an honor to know Grady.
