Douglas Edwin Bump, 68, passed away on March 27, 2020 in Manvel, Texas. He was born on April 29, 1951 in San Antonio, Texas to Delmar Eugene Bump and Elora Jane Leach Bump. Doug is survived by: wife, Wrenlon McCaskill Bump; children, Marcie Merinda Belfi
(husband, Chris) and Timothy Everett Bump; grandchildren, Robin Elora Reese Belfi, Tegan Merinda Fleur Belfi; and numerous family members and friends. They are all extremely blessed to be related to such a Godly man.
Doug earned a B.S. in Elementary Education from Baptist Bible College, a B.S. in Mathematics from North Texas State University, a B.S. in Physics from Lamar University, a M.Ed. in Educational Technology from Texas A&M University, and an Ed.D. in Mathematics Education from the University of Houston. He taught at Temple Christian School in Baton Rouge for 8 years and at Houston Community College for over two decades. His two great loves – after God, missions, and his family – were math and music. Throughout the years he taught many children and adults to play the guitar. He loved to lead sing alongs – at home, at church, at nursing homes, and with children’s groups. He was the worship leader at Mosaic Christian Fellowship in Alvin, Texas. Doug also loved to teach and tutor in math. He was a wonderful resource for career advice and help. He was a mentor to everyone he worked with.

I dreamed I went to heaven. You were there with me. We walked along the streets of gold beside the crystal sea. We heard the angels singing, then someone called your name. You turned and saw a young man. He was smiling as he came.
He said friend, you may not know me now, but then he said but wait. You used to teach my Sunday school when I was only eight. Every week you would say a prayer, before the class would start. One morning when you said that prayer, I asked Jesus in my heart.
Thank you for giving to the Lord. I am a life that was changed
Thank you for giving to the Lord. I am so glad you gave.
Then another man stood before you and said remember the time a missionary came to your church; his pictures made you cry. You didn’t have much money but you gave it anyway. Jesus took the gift you gave and that’s why I’m here today.

One by one they came, as far as the eye could see. Each one somehow touched by your generosity. Little things that you had done, sacrifices made, unnoticed on the earth, heaven now proclaims. And I know up in heaven that you’re not supposed to cry, but I was almost sure there were tears in your eyes, as Jesus took your hand and you stood before the Lord and He said my child look around you for great is your reward
