Lawrence "Skipper" Whaley '53 April 12, 2020 5:05 PM updated: April 12, 2020 5:23 PM

Lawrence M. "Skipper" Whaley was born in Kingsville, Texas on 10/15/1931, and spent his early childhood there.

He graduated from Waco High School then attended Texas A&M University, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering as a member of the Class of 1953.

While serving in the USAF after college, he married Mildred Jane Becka of Raymondville, Texas on 9/10/1955. After his military service, he and Mildred settled in Richardson in 1958 and reared two children. He worked for Texas Instruments in the Equipment Group for most of his career until his retirement in 1989.

He went home to be with Jesus 10/5/2019.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mildred, his son, Raymond, of Richardson, his daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Jim Turner ('84), and his granddaughter, Sarah Turner ('15), all of Hudson Oaks, Texas.
