Obituary of William E L Easterwood

William Edward Lawrence Easterwood (aka Billy) left this human plane of existence on December 17, 2019. He was duck hunting with two of his closest friends when he fought the tides and the tides won. See Billy? You aren’t invincible. (dumb@$$!)

Billy was welcomed into this world at St Joseph’s Hospital in Houston Texas on July 29, 1975, the son of a proud father, and an exhausted mother. He was initially graced with the moniker of Edward Lawrence Easterwood by his father. Upon seeing him, his mother declared none of those names, or derivatives, fit him. They quickly settled upon William, to be abbreviated to Billy, and once he hit puberty, Bill.

He came into this world a whopping nine pounds fifteen ounces, with a 50% chance of survival. He beat those odds, and continued to do everything his own way, because he was always a stubborn ass. He crawled at 5 months, walked at 7 months, and never slowed down after that. Sabrina, his older sister, had him convinced he was adopted. After all, none of the rest of them had blue eyes.

He wasn’t someone that “lit up a room” with his smile, as he usually had a smirk on his lips. After having a wakeboard split his face, we referred to it as his “Joker Smile”. As a kid, he was always into something, Billy was a “joiner”. He played baseball and football, and even had study sessions with his team-mates to go over plays in the playbook. Although, in his own words “I’ll never get a scholarship for football, I’m a slow, fat white boy, I’ve gotta study”. While in high school and college he explored a variety of possible career options, but he quickly decided that Alaskan fisherman, bar fry cook, teamster and copier salesman were not viable options.

He graduated from Texas A&M College (Whoop!) with a double major in MIS degree, and made many lifelong friends while he was there through his fraternity, Phi Kappa Alpha. We know he was an officer for the fraternity, but a lot of drinking was going on back then, so none of us can remember exactly what he did. After graduation he moved back to Houston. He joined Coventry Homes and was a Construction Manager of several residential areas. He eventually became an Independent Residential Contractor. His contracting connections came in handy for his friends and family. His dad, Eddie Larry Easterwood, beat him to pearly gates, so we are sure they are having a drink and some kind of discussion. He is survived by his wife, Alicia Easterwood, his mother, Peggy Easterwood, his sister, Sabrina Easterwood Newton, and his niece, Samantha Newton and his beloved dog Bella.

A celebration of life will be held at Studewood Place located at 1111 Studewood St, Houston, Texas 77008 on Saturday December 28, 2019 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm to share memories, we will continue the celebration of Billy at The Palmer's located at 1545 Oxford Street, Houston Texas 77008 to follow.
