Obituary for Dennis Lee Zwernemann
Funeral services for Dennis Zwernemann, 70, of Austin, Texas are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Old Dime Box with Rev. Bernie Schey officiating. Burial will follow in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Dime Box. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 18, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 a.m. at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The family will be present for visitation Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Dennis Lee Zwernemann was born on July 11, 1949 in Giddings, Texas to Arno Edward & Betty Bernice (Leitko) Zwernemann. He was baptized on July 21, 1949 by Rev. Boriack at Trinity Lutheran Church in Old Dime Box. He was confirmed on April 7, 1963 by Rev. Boriack at Trinity Lutheran church in Old Dime Box. He was united in marriage to Wanda Gayle Whitsel on August 12, 1967 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Old Dime Box by Rev. Carl Biar. Dennis worked as an Industrial Engineer at IBM for 28 years. Dennis was a member of the Central Texas Classic Chevy Club and the JYD’s. He enjoyed classic cars, playing tennis, bicycling, watching football, tailgating, and antique car shows. He loved his restored 1956 Chevy truck and his 1972 vintage matching camper and spending time with his family and friends.

Dennis passed away the evening of Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Cedar Park Regional Medical Center in Cedar Park.

Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, Arno and Betty; sister-in-law, Shirley Zwernemann, and two nephews Darren Beisert and Troy Zwernemann.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Zwernemann of Austin; daughter, Cheryl Dobos & Dan Maynard of Austin; son, Brad Zwernemann and his fiancée, Holly English of Austin; five grandchildren, Nicole Dobos of College Station, Will Zwernemann of Austin, Rose Zwernemann of Austin, Opal Zwernemann of Austin, and Eleanor English of Austin; sister, Darlene Beisert and her husband, Martin Jr. of Dime Box; brother, Ronald Zwernemann of Houston, as well as numerous extended family members.

Serving as pallbearers will be Leroy Wiederhold, Preston Kissman, John Mikulin, David Turpin, Todd Holt, Shannon Zwernemann and Landon Beisert. Honorary pallbearers are Aubrey & Kathy Cornelius, Reid & Betty Smith, and Larry Lehmann.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Building Fund, 3887 East Highway 21, Dime Box, Texas 77853-5075, or to the charity of one’s choice.
