Obituary for Gene L. Wismer
Born on October 13, 1935 in Omaha, Nebraska, then moved to Dallas, Texas when he was 13 where he resided the rest of his life until he passed away on March 28, 2020.
Gene devoted his life to family. With his quick wit, he was kind, a loyal friend, and generous to everyone. He graduated from Hillcrest High School, attended Texas A&M University where he served in the Corps of Cadets as a member of the Spider D Infantry. Following his graduation in 1957, he served in the US Armed Forces. With a friend, Gene established his lifelong business, Gold Star Distributors in 1959. He married the love of his life, Jean, in 1960. Together they had three children, Mark, Todd, and Wendy. He attended Spring Valley Methodist Church and was an active member of the Addison Rotary Club where he served a term as president. Gene created lasting memories with his Aggie buddies and looked forward to their many get togethers each year.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Wendy, his parents Gene and Helen Wismer, and his two sisters Jackie and Cheryl. He is survived by his wife Jean, Mark and Kelley Wismer, Todd and Mary Wismer, and his seven grandchildren Shelby, Taylor, Lynn, Garett, Emma, Erin and Sara.
