Arthur "Wally" Bergquist

BOSSIER CITY, LA - Arthur "Wally" Bergquist, 60, in his own mind was a rootin-tootin, highfalutin head reindeer of his family, even if his wife, Becky, had the reins. The Lord humbled Wally in his later years and after a lengthy illness, he knows without a doubt that he has gone to be with the Lord. Fame and fortune he could not claim, but the best gift he could give his family was being in the knowledge that they had come into the fold of the Lord. Their names are written in the "Lamb's Book of Life."

He is preceded in death by his mother, Garry Bergquist and his father, Arthur Bergquist. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Bishop Bergquist of Bossier City, LA.; his son, Chris Bergquist; his daughter, Karen LeJeune and granddaughter, Abbie; and Donna Teer, mother of his children, all of Webster, TX.; his brother, Shawn Bergquist of Willis, TX.; his sister, Kathy Holman of Conroe, TX.; his niece, April Bergquist and grandniece, Alyzae of Conroe, TX.; his uncle, Jack Kelly and his wife, Carol of Wilmington, DE.; and their children, Karen, John and Linda and their families; and his nephew, Derrick Edwards of Minot, ND.

Services for Wally will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 17, 2007, at Family Worship Center, 4204 Airline Dr., Bossier City. Officiating will be Pastor Al Eden assisted by Chaplain Jimmy Sistrunk. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park Cemetery, Haughton. There will be a Wake on Friday evening between the hours of 6 p.m. and 7 p.m., officiated by Chaplain Les Riggs, at Hill Crest Funeral Home followed by open visitation between the hours of 7 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Wally thanks all his friends that have enriched his life over the years. He also thanks all his health care providers from Schumpert that tolerated his noncompliance, including Dr. Grosbach, Dr. Durci and their staffs, along with a special thanks to Robin Watkins, R.N. and Hospice. A special place in his heart has been The Backside Benevolence Fund that supports the Chaplaincy at Louisiana Downs by seeing to the spiritual, physical, emotional, and social needs of those that work at the race track. He asks that in lieu of flowers, that you give a small token to The Backside Benefolence Fund, P.O. Box 5584, Bossier City, LA. 71171 or to Family Worship Center's Child Life Center Campaign Fund.
