Charles "Chuck" Hatley '81 January 31, 2020 9:50 AM updated: January 31, 2020 3:00 PM

Charles “Chuck” Wayne Hatley, was born August 31, 1959 in San Antonio, Texas. He departed this life on January 20, 2020 in Houston, Texas. Chuck graduated from Winston Churchill High School, San Antonio, Texas with High Honors in 1977. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University on December 12, 1981. While at Texas A&M, Chuck was on the Dean’s Honor Roll multiple semesters and received a Distinguished Student Award. In October of 1986, Chuck was pursued by Mensa due to his I.Q. of 148 which ranked him in the 98th percentile. He received an MBA with a finance concentration from the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas in 1988.

Upon graduation from Texas A&M University, Chuck began his career at ExxonMobil Corporation in Longview, Texas. He later transferred to the Houston area where he spent the rest of his career and eventually retired from ExxonMobil in August 2018.

Chuck leaves behind his beloved children: Charles James “CJ” Albin Hatley, age 30, of Houston, Texas; Veronica “Roni” Ellen Hatley, age 28, of Waxahachie, Texas, and Alexis “Lexi” Hatley, age 24, of Houston, Texas. He also leaves behind his parents, Janice Hatley of Frisco, Texas, Charles and Pattie Hatley of Corpus Christi, Texas; siblings: Robert Hatley of Plano, Texas; Ken Hatley and wife Valerie of Frisco, Texas; Cathy Hatley Deady and husband Michael of Frisco, Texas; Alex Hatley of Corpus Christi, Texas, and several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that loved him dearly.

Chuck had many hobbies and interests, which include reading, riding his motor cycle, traveling, playing poker, smoking cigars, going to the gun range and hanging with his many friends. Chuck loved sports and following his favorite teams, which included the Houston Astros and the Houston Texans.

The family would like to thank all of the many friends and neighbors, who have showed their love and support through this difficult time. You are all truly appreciated.
