Joe B. Harris, Class of ‘53, passed away on November 16, 2019 in Independence, Missouri, where he lived with his wife, Joy and son, Donald, Class of ‘80. Upon graduation, with his degree in Range and Forestry, he worked for the Soil Conservation until
going into the U.S. Army. He served with the 14th Armored Cavalry Regiment in Fulda Germany in1955-56. He retired from the Reserves with the rank of Captain.
He received a Master of Agriculture in 1957 and pursued a doctoral degree in Resource Economics. Later worked in the office of two governors of the State of Texas as coordinator of Natural Resources Programs and Director of Economic Planning. Following that
in 1985 went to work for Camp Dresser & McKee as a Consulting Resource Economist in resource planning and management. He retired to his home near Austin, Texas and in 2017 he and his wife moved to Independence, Missouri to live with their son.
