Wayman Lee Thurman
February 20, 1938 - January 19, 2020

Wayman Lee Thurman was born to Willard and Muriel Thurman on a cotton farm in Mitchell County, Texas, February 20, 1938. He was driving a tractor at the age of eight. He lived his life with such adventure, integrity and peace. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1963 and proudly served in the US Navy from 1960-62. He had a career in banking and software sales. Wayman Lee Thurman passed away, Sunday, January 19, 2020.

Wayman leaves behind a legacy of steadfastness and strength in God to his family: his cherished wife, Sara; beloved sons Jared (and Donna), Jordan (and Evangeline) and Justin (and Anapaulina); precious grandchildren Jonah, Hepzibah and Lilian; treasured sisters Wanda (Jake) Autry and Nelda (Bob) Davis and many more loved family members including nieces and nephews. Wayman had many friends all over the world. Anyone who met him quickly realized his humble, kind and gentle spirit.

Wayman loved to build and create with his hands in his workshop he had built himself. He was building furniture just a few days before his passing. He lived life to the fullest. Wayman could fix anything and was always thinking about how to make things better. He loved to hunt, fish, watch western movies and spend time with his family. He will be missed deeply yet his legacy of faith in God will live on in his children and grandchildren for generations.

For memorial gifts, we suggest Central Asia Leadership Legacy (CALL), a non-profit Wayman and Sara started in 2019. Wayman’s heart was to support missionaries all over the world to know Jesus. CALL is part of his legacy to bring the gospel of Jesus to Central Asia by developing leaders from other countries. Send checks to CALL, 37 Ridgewood Circle, Wimberley, TX 78676.
