Lela Justeen (Burney) Burney
September 28, 2000 ~ December 29, 2019 (age 19)

Lela Justeen Burney born on September 28th 2000 in Georgetown, Texas and went home to be with our Heavenly Father on December 27th, 2019 in Longview, Texas.
Lela was born a star. She had a light so bright if you ever had the pleasure to meet her you would never forget her. She had a heart too big for this earth. Everything she did she did with all her heart; from varsity cheer, competitive cheer, varsity softball, varsity volleyball, student council, coaching up and coming cheerleaders and still somehow she made time to be salutatorian of Tatum High School class of 2019. She just finished her first semester at Texas A&M. Lela was a member of The Church at Lake Cherokee and her faith was very important to her. Lela lived a great full life.
Lela spent all of her time surrounded by her friends and people she loved. Every single person would not just say she was my friend, but that she was my best friend. A fantastic mentor, daughter, follower of Christ, student, and best friend.
Lela is preceded in death by her grandparents Rudy and Cynthia Tovar as well as best friends Sarah Paige , Hector Duran, Scott Evans, and Landon Good.
Survived by her Mother Andria, Sister Destanie, Niece Kaydeince, Uncle Lucas, Aunt Tasha, Uncle Isaac, nieces and nephews Alex, Avery, Gracie, RubyLyn ,Ethan, and Nathan Tovar.
There are some who bring a light so great into this world, that even after they have gone, the light remains. We are so proud of you, Lela Burney. We love you mucho, mucho.
A Life Celebration service will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Tatum High School Auditorium. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation, one hour prior to the service. Interment will immediately follow the service at Harmony Hill Cemetery.
