Charles Edward Brant, 73, passed away at home on Thursday, November 28, 2019 after a long battle with cancer.
Charles was born April 20, 1946 in Center, Texas. As part of a military family, he lived from Alaska to Germany and many places in between. His family moved to Arlington, Virginia in 1962 and he graduated from Washington & Lee High School. He went to Texas
A&M and graduated in the Class of 1967 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Charles worked years for Exxon Mobil in a variety of positions including recruiting, management and quality control. He was also assigned to coordinate the Exxon response to the spill in Valdez, Alaska. During this time, he also joined the Texas Air National
Guard and was educated and flew the F101 (Voodoo) for approximately 16 years.
After Charles retired, he moved to Colorado and he did many community and service projects including socialization and training of service dogs for Canine Companions for Independence and Freedom Service Dogs in Colorado. He assisted in placements of 7-9 service
dogs over 15+ years.
He was an active member and part-time instructor with Mile High Remote Control Airplane Club and also flew radio controlled Drones. He tutored students in math and science and became a mentor for several FIRST Robotics teams, teaching strategies and techniques
at Kick-Off each year. He was nominated and won the coveted Woody Flowers award as an Outstanding Mentor with his first year as a Mentor. Charles was passionate about challenging and helping kids and young adults learn to think and achieve success.
Charles is survived by his wife, Margaret Easterday Brant in Strasburg, Colorado; his father, Edward Leroy Brant of Arlington, Virginia; daughter, Marion Elizabeth Walsh and spouse, Christopher Walter Walsh of Austin, Texas; son, John E. Brant; grandson, Jack
Charles Campbell and his parents, Larry and Jessica Campbell and brother Holden Campbell of Aurora, Colorado; step-daughter, Dawn Easterday Robinson, spouse, Scott Robinson and grandson Lucas Owen Robinson of Kaneohe, Hawaii. He is also survived by his sister,
Katherine Ann Sullivan and spouse, Richard Mims Sullivan III and sons, James Brant Sullivan and family: and Richard Brant Sullivan and family in Arlington, Virginia. Charles’ mother (Marion Virginia Brant) preceded him in death.
Memorial and celebration services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, December 13, 2019 at Horan & McConaty, 11150 East Dartmouth Ave, Aurora, Colorado. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia at a later date to be determined. Memorial contributions
