Rudolf Edward Schiefelbein
August 8, 1924 - December 13, 2019

There comes a time when every man is called home. Today, Rudolf Edward Schiefelbein Jr. was that man. Born on August 8, 1924 to Rudolf Edward Schiefelbein and Annie Prather Schiefelbein, Edward grew up in San Antonio, graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School. Rudolf proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, during World War II. He met his wife Mary Ann at Pablo’s Grove Park. They married in San Antonio and then honeymooned at Texas A&M where Edward was finishing Veterinary School. After graduation, Edward and MaryAnn moved to Floresville Texas where Edward opened a large animal practice. In 1953 Edward sold his veterinarian practice and became employed by Schiefelbein Oil and Gas and the family moved to San Antonio. Edward later went on to work 20 years for US Dept of Agriculture during which time the family moved back to the Ranch in Floresville in 1968.

Edward and Mary Ann were long time members of Floresville First Baptist Church. Edward continued to be involved in the oil business and cattle ranching until his death.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 74 years, Mary Ann and his brother Bill Schiefelbein. Mourning him are his daughters Patricia Swahn and husband Stanley, Pam Dieckert and husband Paul, and Penny Curry (Bobbie). Missing him are also his sons Rudolf Edward Schiefelbein III (Gov) and wife Mari and Joey Schiefelbein (Patricia). He is survived by grandchildren Heath, Grady, Dori, Lindsay, Chad, Brandy, Sheri, Rudy, Edward, Kevin, Addie, Amber, Will, Colin, Claudette, Casey, JoeJoe and Katie plus their husbands and wives and 28 great-grandchildren.

Edward was a Christian, a dutiful son, a good brother, a supportive husband, a protective father, an entertaining grandfather and a great-grandfather with great funny stories. He will be missed but not forgotten.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Youth Group, 1115 B Street, Floresville, Texas 78114.
